Driving directions
To Chuck & Ardeen Hague’s House
Getting from the airport to
our house is a snap, thanks to the fine road system here in Atlanta.
We live North of the
airport:
- Go South on 285 until
you come to 285 East, then go West on 285
- Take the
Peachtree-Dunwoody Parkway exit, go left, which will swing around to the right
- Peachtree-Dunwoody
Parkway will change names to Dunwoody-Peachtree Blvd
- Dunwoody-Peachtree Blvd
will change names to Peachtree Street SW
- Peachtree Street SW will
run into the East-West Connector / Peachtree North-South Powder Springs
Parkway
- Take the Peachtree
North-South Powder Springs Parkway by turning to the right
- Peachtree North-South
Powder Springs Parkway becomes South Cobb-Dunwoody-Peachtree Avenue
- You’ll know you’re on
the right road when in a few miles you’ll see a “big
chicken” (which, God help you, should mean something to you.)
- Turn left on Peachtree
North-South Powder Springs Road
- At the intersection of
Peachtree North-South Powder Springs Parkway and Peachtree North-South Powder
Springs Road, turn left
- Peachtree North-South
Powder Springs Road becomes Old Peachtree North-South Powder Springs Dunwoody
Trace
- Turn left or right at
Peachtree-Cobb Street, either way will get you to Church Street which you
don’t want to turn on, just keep going
- Turn Right on Church
Road and proceed until you see Church Ave and turn left
- Church Ave becomes
Church Peachtree-Dunwoody (or as the locals call it 77 or the “Old
72-Peachtree Freeway”)
- If you see lots of
traffic moving on the freeway off to the left you’re not near Atlanta, as
traffic rarely moves on our freeways – go back to the airport and start over!
- Turn right two miles
before the end of the road
- Go just past where the
old barn used to be and turn left
- One of our children will
be waving a blue flag (ignore any children you see waving flags of other
colors, we were designated blue – technically the color is called “Dunwoody
Blue” and is dark, the light blue flag (Peachtree Blue as the locals call it)
is at the other end of the cul-de-sac, and they have a mean dog.
- If you get lost, just
give us a call, but remember, dial all 10 digits of the phone number, but
don’t proceed the number with a “1” as it’s a local call.
Please note:
1.
Finding street address numbers is essentially impossible, so just give up
on that right now.
2.
Right lanes suddenly turn into turn-only lanes
3.
Left lanes often suddenly turn into turn-only lanes
4.
Middle lanes are referred to by locals as “Bumper Carways”
5.
The speed limits are strictly and randomly enforced, but this does not
stop most people from driving like race-car drivers
6.
Only every-other intersection has street signs, so if a given
intersection does not have a sign, you may need to turn to go to the next street
to see a sign. This is a real cost savings measure for Atlanta.
7.
If you don’t know where the “big chicken”
is, you will never, ever, find anyplace.
