Anti-Bush - 05/25/2007 10:47 AM
Anti-Bush. That’s what’s in vogue. So let’s talk about that. First, let me make it clear, I have voted for George W. Bush two times. The first time, because I viewed Al Gore as one of the most dangerous men in America (I’ll dedicate a paragraph to that below). The second time, I was planning to vote for the Libertarian candidate (whoever that was) – but the polls were too close, and I could not stand the thought of a position-less candidate like Kerry winning the presidency, so I plugged my nose, and voted for Bush.

Ok, I said I’d dedicate a paragraph to Al Gore, so here it is. He is an environmental alarmist. Based on pseudo-science, he is willing to condemn this country to great expense and misdirection. There is virtually no scientific evidence to man-made global warming. He has turned this into a religion. When viewing quotes of the UniBomber and Al Gore, the most radical quotes come from Al Gore. He is a dangerous man, who, for reasons I don’t understand, is given intellectual credibility. In fact, he is irrelevant, and if his visions were put into policy, would be dangerous and damaging. His only place in history was ignored by him…he could have led the fight to eliminate the now irrelevant Electoral College. He won the popular vote, but lost the electoral votes. Before high technology existed, the Electoral College made sense, in this day and age, it does not. Al Gore did not have the vision to make this change; instead, he maintained his irrelevance. Predictable.

Look at World War II – we were at risk of being eliminated as a nation. If you have any doubt about this, look at your local coin shop for a “HAWAII” bill. I own one. They stamped currency in Hawaii with “HAWAII” in bold print on each side of the colored seals on the front of currency. On the back, in outline font, covering most of the width of the bill is, “HAWAII”. Why did they do this? So if the Japanese took Hawaii, they would not be able to use our currency against us. We would have declared that currency “void”. We actually thought this could happen. This was real, think abut this for a moment… World War II was not a guaranteed win for the United States. I know in this day and age, this is hard to appreciate, but we had a significant portion of the world united against us – many of our allies were seriously harmed and our military strength was limited. People – everyday people – had to make sacrifices. Some colored dies were used for the military and not readily available to the general public. Things like rubber and metal were strictly controlled – people actually donated “pots and pans” to make weapons. Today, nobody is giving up his or her egg-pans for freedom – we used to do that. Our ability to purchase gasoline, rubber, and other materials were regulated via stamps! We fought for our very existence, and for the freedom of our allies (like England, and even France).

We are fighting for something as great today! We are fighting for freedom from torture and unimaginable oppression in the Middle East. Imagine if we succeed! We will have a democratic Muslim nation that stands by their own beliefs, and without the oppression of their people! This beacon of light will shine to other nations – slowly they will, perhaps, rise from the Middle Ages and find freedom WITH Islam. They will find a way to live free – all the while respecting reasonable religious beliefs. We have shot an arrow into the heart of radical Islam. We have drawn a line in the sand saying that we – the civilized world – will not tolerate animal-like savagery anymore. Saddam is dead and with him the hate and domination of people is gone forever. Saddam and Hitler are different only in regards to the timeline in which they were eliminated.

President George W. Bush has, thanks to September 11, 2001, finally begun to recognize the threat of terrorism. He has drawn a line in the sand saying this is unacceptable. This is a FIRST step…a step that is critical – and TIMID! Nations like Israel have suffered outrageous attacks – and do to this day. We look upon George W. Bush as a FIRST STEP towards peace.

The world must seek those people – those nations – who seek peace, and band together. We must defeat those who seek to advance death and destruction. We must bring them to justice. We must stop them. We now live in the 21st century, it is time to put behind us the dark ages and move toward freedom and prosperity. The time of ignorant religious oppression is past – the time for radical Islam is gone. Civilized people need to stand up and say, “No more.” United States President George W. Bush is the first to shout this command loud enough that nobody can ignore it. I say 'Thank goodness for President George W. Bush’, possibly the most important President since Abraham Lincoln. As unarticulated as he is (especially compared to one of our greatest presidents, Ronald Reagan), he has taken a position that is as American – as positive – as any president has ever taken.

George W. Bush is among the most decent, moral presidents the United States has ever had. Although I voted for him twice when I really didn’t want to, I am proud that I have helped him hold the office that has move freedom as forward as he has been able to carry it. We all chant, “Support our troops”; this isn’t a thoughtless chant! We say it because we believe it! These young men and women are not only helping Iraqi’s, they are helping the Middle East. They are helping advance the cause of Freedom!

I thought President Bill Clinton was an embarrassment, ineffectual, and unimportant. He made me want to cringe, he made me feel generally bad, but he was – however unfortunate – our President. Those who hate George W. Bush as intently as so many do, are sick, and I pity them their hate. This intense hate is like nothing I have ever seen before. It shuts off all reason, facts, and impartiality. It turns otherwise intelligent peaceful people almost rabid! I have heard people wish for Bush's assassination! And their rage expands with the same fervor to those around Bush.

An election year is approaching. Will we, as a nation, have the courage to stand by the course we have set? I’d like to think so, but given the spineless candidates up for the office so far, I’m not encouraged. How many American and Iraqi lives will have been wasted due to the cowardice our next administration? I fear it is a lot, and our enemies only need wait to determine their strategy. Reflecting back to an earlier rant…where is Ronald Reagan when we need him?
